The Dewalt DW616D is a good choice in a heavy duty router to install locks and strikes in aluminum doors and jambs. The “D” type handle gives good control when routing. The on/off switch is spring loaded and located in the handle so the unit can be turned on or off without removing your hand to reach a switch. Two collet chucks are provided a ¼” needed for aluminum door work and a ½” that can be used for wood door routing. This router is also offered in a “soft start” model DW618D that is another safety plus. The addition of the optional DW6182 plunge base will turn this into a dual purpose router.
